New St. Cloud Ambulatory Surgery Center

The new St. Cloud Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) will open in 2011 and will provide same-day surgical procedures closer to home for many of the 38,000 Veterans who receive their primary medical care at the St. Cloud VA Health Care System in St. Cloud, Minn.
Ambulatory surgical procedures provided will include urological, podiatric, orthopedic [including arthroscopy], oral and general surgery.
The Ambulatory Surgery Center will have:
- Three operating rooms (two general operating rooms and one designed specifically for urology procedures)
- Five recovery beds (one isolation room and one room with a ceiling-mounted lift)
- Four intake rooms which can also be used for recovery space
- A Supply, Processing and Decontamination [SPD] Department
- Anesthesia work space
In conjunction with the opening of the new surgical center, St Cloud VA’s existing SPD Department has also undergone a major renovation to support the additional service needed to support the center.
