Christopher A. Stomberg, MBA, was appointed Acting Deputy Network Director for the VA Midwest Health Care Network, Veterans Integrated Service Network 23 (VISN 23) on December 9, 2013.  As the Acting Deputy Network Director, Mr. Stomberg leads Veteran Health Administration facility administrative operations for VA medical facilities operating in the states of Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota. 

Mr. Stomberg also serves as the Network’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), a position he has held since 2005.  As CFO, he is responsible for preparing and monitoring the Network’s $2.5 billion annual budget and overseeing all aspects of financial operations.  He also oversees the Network’s Business Office and Managerial Cost Accounting and Analytics (MCCA) program.  Mr. Stomberg joined the VA in 1993 and has held progressively more responsible positions within the Veterans Health Administration.  He graduated from Saint John’s University, Collegeville, Minn. in 1988.  He earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Northeastern University, Boston, Mass. in 1992.  He graduated from the Health Care Leadership Institute in 2006 and is a member of the Health Care Financial Management Association.
