Chief Medical Officer
BARRY A. GRAHAM, M.D.
Barry A. Graham, M.D. was appointed to his current position as Chief Medical Officer, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Midwest Health Care Network, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 23 in August 2003.
Dr. Graham serves as the senior clinical official for the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Western Illinois and Western Wisconsin. He has a twenty-five year of serving veterans with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Dr. Graham graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1972 and from the University of North Dakota Medical School in 1976. He received his board certification in internal medicine. From 1986-1992, Dr. Graham served as Chief of Staff at the Fargo VA Medical Center. He was appointed the Regional Chief of Staff, Eastern Region, Fort Howard, Maryland from 1992 to 1994. He returned to the Midwest in 1994 where he served as Chief of Staff at the VA Medical Center, Lincoln, Nebraska. In 2001, he was appointed the Chief Medical Officer for the Veterans Integrated Service Network 14. In August 2003, he was appointed as Chief Medical Officer for the VA Midwest Health Care Network (VISN 23) which was formed through the integration of VISNs 13 and 14.
Dr. Graham is a U.S. Army veteran who served as a military physician from 1978 to 1982. Following his honorable discharge from active duty, he served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1984 to 1997; in the Nebraska National Guard from 1997 to 2000; and returned to active duty during Operation Desert Storm.
Dr. Graham is married and lives near Waverly, Nebraska.
