Marci Mylan, PhD, MHA


Marci Mylan was appointed as the Acting Deputy Network Director for the VA Midwest Healthcare Network in Minneapolis, MN on June 2, 2009.  In this position she is responsible for network operations, including strategic and tactical planning, human resource management, business operations, finance, capital asset management, contracting, biomedical engineering and logistics for a network serving over 290,000 veterans with a $2 billion dollar annual budget serving the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and portions of the bordering states of Kansas, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin and Wyoming.  VISN 23 includes eight health care systems and 43 community-based outpatient clinics. 

 

Dr. Mylan was appointed as Assistant Director for the Minneapolis VAMC in July of 2007.  Dr. Mylan received her Baccalaureate Degree in Psychology from the College of Saint Catherine and her Master’s and PhD degrees in Clinical Psychology from Northern Illinois University. In 1987 she completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley.  More recently Dr. Mylan completed a Masters in Health Care Administration from Baylor University (the U.S. Army Baylor Program at Fort Sam Houston).

 

Dr. Mylan left the private sector and joined the Minneapolis VAMC in 1992, progressing from a program coordinator for the Addiction Service, to a psychology supervisor.  She continues to see patients in the Mental Health Service Line and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Minnesota, and an Adjunct Faculty member at the College of St. Catherine.

 

Dr. Mylan is a member of the Association of Health Care Executives, Association of Military Surgeons of the United States, and the American Psychological Association.  She has received numerous awards including the Outstanding Graduate Student of the Year, U.S. Army Baylor Program in Healthcare Administration, June 2004; the Professional Service Award from the Association of VA Psychology Leaders, August 2002; the VA Undersecretary for Health's Innovations Award, August 2000; and The Federal Women's Program Award, March 1998.  Dr. Mylan has authored publications in the areas of clinical program development and psychotherapy treatment outcomes. Dr. Mylan is a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
